Digital Traffic Systems
We combine classic traffic planning with sensor technology, digital display systems and automated operating processes. From concept and tendering to technical support and acceptance, we assist clients in deploying these systems – vendor-neutral.
Systems & Applications
Vendor-neutral consulting, design and tendering – from a single system to automated traffic management.
- LED variable message signsDynamic signage at work zones – highly visible, remotely controllable and flexibly adaptable to construction phases.
- Mobile congestion warning systemsAutomatically detect the end of a queue and warn traffic in time – an effective contribution to work zone safety.
- Automated alternating traffic managementThe centre lane follows the dominant direction – planned on the basis of our data-driven route analysis.
- Vehicle classification systems (WIM)Capturing dimensions, classification and weights in flowing traffic.
- Transportable cantilever masts and sign gantriesLane-specific signage and optimal visibility – including project-specific specifications.
How automated alternating traffic management works
On routes with directional traffic peaks, the dominant direction reverses over the day. An automated alternating traffic management system assigns the centre lane to the loaded direction – more capacity without additional road space.
Detect
Traffic sensors continuously capture traffic volume and dominant direction – inbound in the morning, outbound in the evening.
Switch
The centre lane is automatically assigned to the loaded direction – indicated by LED variable message signs on gantries or cantilever masts.
Guide
An automated barrier and switch enable flexible routing and changeover of traffic – without manual intervention on site.
How weigh-in-motion (WIM) works
Vehicle classification systems are versatile and serve a range of use cases – from capturing vehicle dimensions (height, width, length) and classification to weight measurement (axle load and gross weight) in flowing traffic, without stopping and without a roadside scale.
Measure
Combined sensor technology captures every passage: cameras and overhead sensors determine vehicle type and dimensions, while weighing sensors embedded in the carriageway measure axle loads, gross weight and axle configuration.
Classify
Vehicles are classified automatically – from passenger cars to heavy haulage, including the detection of overloading.
Use
The data serves as a basis for heavy traffic analyses, the protection of bridges and infrastructure, or the pre-selection for enforcement checks.
